About QLD continuing professional development
CPD Requirement details
From 6 June 2025, CPD becomes mandatory for real estate professionals in Queensland. Whether you’re a licensed agent, property manager, auctioneer or letting agent - Aspire Performance Training makes compliance simple with approved CPD courses delivered online and across Queensland.
There are some exemptions and nuances, such as if your licence/registration was first issued less than 12 months ago, you are not required to start CPD until after your first 12 months. View all exemptions lower on the page.
Once you complete a session, the CPD provider must supply you with proof of completion, such as a certificate or statement of attainment.
You can meet this requirement by completing:
-
Two Type 1 sessions, or
-
One Type 1 + one Type 2 session

Who Needs CPD in Queensland?
If you hold a real estate licence or registration in QLD, CPD is now compulsory. This includes:
-
Real estate agents and salespeople
-
Property managers
-
Real property auctioneers
-
Resident letting agents
Who is exempt / when CPD does not apply
There are some exemptions and nuances:
- If your licence/registration was first issued less than 12 months ago, you are not required to start CPD until after your first 12 months.
-
If your licence was deactivated for most of your CPD year.
-
If you hold a limited real estate agent licence for affordable housing or business letting.
-
If you represent public sector agencies or you are an official under the Property Occupations Act 2014, provided you don’t hold an individual licence or registration.
-
Also, exemption may be granted for a year if you have exceptional circumstances.
What “CPD year” means, how to find this and “when you need to do CPD”
-
CPD year is based on the issue date of your licence or registration. So each person has their own CPD year, starting from when their current licence or registration was issued.
-
Any CPD completed before your first full CPD year begins does not count.
Find your licence or registration issue date
Your licence or registration issue date is printed on your current licence or registration.
If you hold multiple licences or if you hold both a licence and a registration, use the one with the earliest issue date.
