Eligibility Criteria for the New Worker Definition:

  • Full-time employees who have been with your company for less than three months.
  • Part-time employees who have been part of your team for less than 12 months.

PART 1: Jobs and Skills WA
Employer Incentive

The Jobs and Skills WA Employer Incentive provides financial assistance to Western Australian businesses that employ an apprentice or new entrant trainee.

When you choose to empower your business and support emerging talent in Western Australia, you stand to gain substantial financial benefits through the State Government Employer Incentive Scheme.

Detailed Incentive Breakdown for Full-Time Trainees:

  • 12-month traineeship: Gain $2,125, with $1,062.50 awarded at both 6 months and completion.
  • 24-month traineeship: Benefit from a total of $4,250, split evenly at 6 months into the traineeship and upon completion.

Eligibility: 

Western Australian Employers who are eligible to access the incentive are:

  • New entrant trainee employers.
  • Not-for-profit organisations.
  • Local Government and Government trading enterprises.
  • Employers with annual apprentice-related expenses below $1 million.
  • Group training organisations.

New-worker definition:  A new worker to your company. Employed less than 3 months full time, or less than 12 months casual or part-time, they will need to be part-time or full-time to undertake the traineeship.

Part 2: Australian Apprenticeships Incentive System

The Australian Apprenticeships Incentive System (AAIS) is a program introduced by the Australian government to support apprenticeships and traineeships across the country, making them more effective and accessible.

Specifically, employers can receive hiring incentives of $3,500 for apprentices in non-priority occupations.

Additional subsidies are available for employers in rural and remote areas.

Available from 1 July 2022 to 30 June 2024.

 

FEDERAL INCENTIVE

  • Full time trainees: $1,750 at 6 months, plus $1,750 at 12 months
  • Part time trainees: $850 at 6 months, plus $850 at 12 months
